Emergencies at Bolden Dental

We are a one-dentist office, not a 24-hour facility. Current patients can call (815) 555-0102 after hours and leave a message; Dr. Bolden checks it in the evening and again before the office opens.

During office hours, call (815) 555-0101.

  • Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a serious blow to the head, or bleeding that won't stop needs emergency care now. Go to an emergency room or call 911. If a tooth is knocked out or broken, call our office right away.

What counts, and what to do first

A problem with a tooth

If it isn't life-threatening, call us.

  • A knocked-out tooth

Hold it by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently, and keep it moist in milk or a clean cup. Call us right away.

  • A broken tooth

Rinse your mouth with warm water and keep any piece. Call us right away.

  • A toothache that won't quit

Rinse with warm water and call us. Don't put aspirin against the gum.

  • A lost filling or crown

Keep it and call us. We'll say how to protect the tooth until your visit.

How it works

After hours and the next morning

  1. 01

    Step 1: The after-hours line

It is for current patients. Leave your name, your number and a line about what happened. Dr. Bolden checks it in the evening and again before the office opens.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Who answers

Dr. Bolden returns the calls herself, in the order they came. She may be with someone else, so a call back can take time.

  3. 03

Step 3: If you're not a current patient

The line is not for you. Call the office when we open, or go to an emergency room if you need care tonight.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The next morning

We set time aside each morning for people who called overnight. We can't promise a slot, and we'll tell you honestly when the next opening is.

Questions about emergencies

Do you see emergencies?

We see urgent problems when we are open, as the schedule allows. We can't promise a slot, and we'll tell you honestly when the next opening is.

What does an emergency visit cost?

You get the fee in writing before treatment, even in an emergency. How fees work has the details.

What if I can't reach anyone?

If you have swelling that spreads, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop, call 911 or go to an emergency room. Otherwise leave a message and call again when the office opens.

Current patient, and it can't wait?

Call the after-hours line and leave a message.
